Geordie joined the UN Environment Programme in 2009. He has been part of a team to develop a $250 million portfolio of projects, mainly in cities, transport and energy efficiency, helping over 80 countries with their reporting to the UNFCCC

Geordie started his post-graduate career in 1998 with the UN Development Programme in New York as a policy and project development specialist. In 2001, he became UNDP-GEF Regional Manager for Climate Change in the Arab States, moving in 2003 to Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States as UNDP-GEF Regional Coordinator for Climate Change.
