The 2nd UrbanShift National-Local Dialogue will focus on understanding climate finance while also connecting the financing opportunities, mechanisms, and frameworks based on each GEF-7 city’s priority areas in Indonesia. This builds on the outcomes of the 1st Dialogue in 2023, which identified key issues and actions for collaboration around UrbanShift’s priority thematic areas, including:
- Circular economy and waste management;
- Water resources management;
- Energy efficiency and renewable energy;
- Sustainable transport; and
- Urban biodiversity and landscape.
The dialogue will further deepen the discussion of project investment in each GEF-7 city and assess the feasibility of priority project areas within the context of national policies and the finance framework. These efforts also support the Indonesia Child Project, which will implement the sub-projects in the GEF-7 cities in Indonesia, based on identified priority areas and development corridors.
In addition, this dialogue will promote gender-smart investing as an approach, ensuring that projects are designed and implemented to foster fairness and equal opportunity for all, regardless of gender, disability status, or social background. This approach contributes to reducing poverty and inequality, improving service delivery, and fostering more sustainable and inclusive development outcomes.
The day after the National-Local Dialogue, a workshop on gender inclusion will be held with all cities to deepen the discussion at the local level, further integrating gender considerations into urban climate actions.
