3rd UrbanShift Partnership Engagement Group Meeting
PEG members discussed points of alignment around upcoming UrbanShift activities like the Asia Forum and advocacy events.
The UrbanShift Partnership Engagement Group (PEG) is a high-level, external coordination body that provides strategic guidance on the implementation of key urban initiatives, alliances, networks, and projects that align with the program’s vision and that can complement and expand our work.
The 3rd UrbanShift annual PEG Group Meeting was hosted on 10 May 2023. PEG members, including UCLG, GCoM, UNDP, WEF, ERDB, and the GEF, were convened to discuss UrbanShift’s past achievements and future activities, share updates from each partner organization, and identify synergies for our joint upcoming work. During the meeting, more details were presented to the PEG regarding UrbanShift’s 2023 Advocacy Strategy and the planned workplan for 2023 and beyond, including flagship activities such as the City Academies, the Asia Regional Forum (September 2023), the Asia Investors Roundtable and the City Business Hub.
This PEG meeting cast light on the importance of urban transformation and various approaches, such as changing government mindsets and directly improving urban life, both short-term and long-term. Interest for future collaboration among PEG members was expressed on UrbanShift City Academies, Asia Forum, and Global Taskforces, and deeper engagement with partners on these specific topics was facilitated. The PEG was pleased to witness the thriving growth of their partnership, with a focus on identifying opportunities for collective support to cities and delivering partners.
