Asher is responsible for UNEP’s portfolio of GEF mitigation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
He oversees the development and implementation of more than 25 projects in the region, in areas including sustainable cities, electric mobility, renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate transparency.
Asher has more than 15 years of experience in project management in Australia and Latin America, in both the private sector and international public sectors. Before joining UNEP, he worked for six years at the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), supporting multilateral consideration of policies for promoting climate technology development and transfer.
Asher is an Australian national and holds degrees in engineering, applied mathematics and international negotiations.
