Xueman Wang manages the World Bank’s Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC) and urban programs in East Asia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. She spearheaded the World Bank’s Partnership for Market Readiness – a global program for supporting countries to prepare and implement carbon pricing.

Xueman has played a critical role in helping China develop the national carbon market and was part of the core team that set up the largest carbon fund in the world in 2007. She was a member of the core team for the World Bank flagship World Development Report 2010, “Development and Climate Change,” and has recently led World Bank reports such as “Urban Sustainability Framework,” “Chongqing 2035: Economic and Spatial Transformation for a Global City” and “Natural Asset and Biodiversity Valuation in Cities.” 

Prior to joining the World Bank, Xueman was with the Secretariat of the Convention of Biodiversity of the UN Environment Program in Montreal, Canada. Before that, she worked at the UN Climate Change Secretariat in Bonn. She has also served as a member of the Climate Change Council of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda (2012 to 2014).
